RE/MAX Sales Associates Donate $3.1 million to Children’s Miracle Network in 2005
Kelowna, British Columbia --- RE/MAX associates across Canada are committed to improving health care for sick and injured children. In 2005, RE/MAX associates raised a staggering $3.1 million for Children’s Miracle Network 14 member hospitals and foundations across Canada in 2005.
"I am so proud to witness how our dedicated professionals believe in giving back to the communities in which they live and work. They have once again, overwhelmingly, shown their dedication to the cause of helping sick children," says Helga Wendt, Manager, Regional Administration and Children’s Miracle Network Liaison for RE/MAX of Western Canada. "At RE/MAX, we share a passion for Children’s Miracle Network and truly believe that our contributions are more than a donation to a worthy cause; it’s an investment in the future of our children."
The contribution topped last year’s donation of just over $2.5 million dollars – an increase of 24 per cent. The Canadian contribution represented 32 per cent of the overall $9.6 million RE/MAX donated throughout North America last year. The proceeds were raised through local fundraising events and programs like the RE/MAX Miracle Home Program, where associates make a donation on behalf of each transaction.
"With over two million children in need annually, hospitals require our support more than ever before," says Christine Martysiewicz, Director of Public Relations, RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic Canada. "There is comfort in knowing that our Sales Associates are helping to improve children’s health care each and every time they sell a home."
According to John Hartman, Senior Vice President, Children’s Miracle Network, "Each region, RE/MAX Western Canada, RE/MAX Ontario Atlantic and RE/MAX Quebec have broken through the $1 million dollar level in donations in 2005. This is an incredible testament to the realtors, brokers and staff. Since the partnership began in 1992, RE/MAX in Canada has generated over $21 million for children in need of critical care at our 14 member hospitals."
In Canada, the funds raised on behalf of Children’s Miracle Network help support research, outreach programs, and medical equipment. The member hospitals and foundations supported by Children’s Miracle Network include: BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (Calgary), Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation (Edmonton), Children’s Health and Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, Children’s Health Foundation, McMaster Children’s Hospital, SickKids Foundation, CHEO Foundation, IWK Health Centre Foundation, Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation and Opération Enfant Soleil.
